The Tyneside Irish Centre has something for everyone. There are dozens of ways for you to get involved. Here’s a quick snap shot of various activities and groups that meet within the centre on a regular basis;

Tyneside Maritime Chorus

The Tyneside Maritime Chorus meet every Monday to sing the sea shanties of old. Contact for more information on how to get involved

Irish Language Group. Every Monday 7.30-9pm
The level is beginners, the pace is comfortable and the group is informal. The group meets each Monday 7.30pm till 9pm and classes are free of charge as well as of binding commitment. If you would like to learn Irish, because of family connections or simply out of personal curiosity and interest, then get in touch with Graeme Hutchinson. You would be made most welcome.

25 – Cards Night Each Friday
Join in and learn to play one of Ireland’s most popular card games. Held each Friday night in the Gallowgate lounge. Drop in or contact for more information on how to get involved

Tyneside Irish Cultural Society
The Tyneside Irish Cultural Society is responsible for organising the Tyneside Irish Festival each year, St Patrick’s Weekend and a whole host of other events and cultural experiences. If you would like to join in and help please contact

Table Quiz – First Wednesday of the Month (8pm-9.30pm)
The Tyneside Irish Quiz night is one of the best in town. Come along to show off your knowledge or to join in on the banter. Bring your wit and a sense of humour! Contact

Gaelic Football in the North East
Newcastle boasts some of the stongest Gaelic teams in the North and indeed in the whole of the UK. The Men’s Cú Chulainns GAC has won the Yorkshire League and championship in 2012, 2013, and again in 2014. To play for the men’s Cú Chulainns team contact is Paul Quinn 07799 322229. Irish Traditional Music and Dance is in the blood here in Clare, and passed down from one generation to the next. This family and their friends were quiet the attraction on O’Connell Street in Ennis last evening as even a few passers by were convinced to join in the craic agus ceoil. #fleadh2017
