Minister Donohoe visits Tyneside Irish Centre

The centre was pleased to host a visit by Irish Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe on Thursday 9th June.

Paschal met some key business people in the region and was then joined by local MP’s Chi Onwurah and Pat Glass to talk to  the Irish members here about the EU referendum. He also revealed that he lived in the city for 18 months in the 1990’s- his first job in England at Proctor and Gamble’s Gosforth office.

The Minister commented on how we was impressed by the progress and changes to the city’s townscape in the last twenty years.

The Dublin Central TD is a big fan of the Bohemians FC and he was delighted to meet our own Mick Martin a fellow Dubliner and Bohs fan.

Mick started his career at the Irish capital’s club before moving to Man United, West Brom and then the Magpies. The two plan to meet up again when the clubs meet up again when the clubs meet at a pre-season match in Dublin on 16th July.

By then the referendum will be over and both hope the ties between our two cities will remain as strong as ever.
