Concerts and Festival

Tyneside Irish Festival

Every year we run a festival to celebrate Irish heritage and talent, with a range of events including singers, musicians, dancers, playwrights, and more. The festival has grown over the years, starting as a weekend in 1987 and becoming 37 days in 2022. All are welcome to join us at these events, have a look at last year’s below.

We run a series of concerts throughout the year as part of our ongoing programme of events culminating in an Irish Festival which takes place in October.

Since the inception of the cultural society, and the first Irish Festival in 1984, some of the biggest stars of Irish traditional music have performed for us including…

Altan, Danú, Damien Dempsey, Lúnasa, Lankum, Daoirí Farrell, Andy Irvine, Declan O’Rourke, Sean Maguire, Christy Moore, Beoga, De Dannan, Shaskeen, Buttons and Bows, Jack O’Rourke, Jimmy Crowley, Mary Black, Four men and a dog, Donal De Barra and Steve Cooney.
