North East Irish Network
Connecting Irish People in North East England
The North East Irish Network is a coalition of Irish organisations in North East England. The network was originally set up as a response to the lockdown in March 2020 with funding from the Irish Government to combat social and cultural isolation in the Covid crisis.
We were awarded funding to maintain contact with the Irish community in the North East, to lessen the feeling of isolation and loneliness. Our database has a mix of volunteers and those who may need support – all with an Irish connection, whether they are Irish born, of Irish descent or have an affinity for Ireland.

Our Work

Support line
Our support line is manned by a key volunteer and we welcome calls for a simple chat as well as more urgent needs.
We can also set up regular phone calls with one of our volunteers. We can match people to a suitable volunteer – if you would like a call or know someone who would benefit from this service please get in touch.

Irish Community News
Our newsletter is posted out to over 500 older Irish in the region.
Each issue is put together by our team with extra articles coming from reporters and our readers.

Irish Food Hampers
Our amazing volunteers have also delivered Irish food hampers to our friends.
Our most recent Irish treats were delivered in time for Christmas, with a few Irish treats to keep spirits up and to let everyone know we are thinking of them.
