And Family History Hub

Over the past three years we have been developing a Resource Centre using donations of books, CDs, DVDs and sheet music to create a library. We have gathered over 500 books which are currently being catalogued by our volunteer, Bridget Lowery.

Our heritage focus in 2021 is to collect the history and memories of the Tyneside Irish Brigade (TIB) and produce a touring exhibition with an accompanying booklet to visit venues across the North East.

The project  has received funding from the Heritage Lottery and we hope to start in April, 2021, if we are back in the Tyneside Irish Centre by then, and launch our Family Research Hub where memories and raw material for the exhibition will be gathered. Our volunteers will run the hub and keep the Resource Centre open eight hours a week for the duration of the project.
