Keep Your Feet Still, Geordie Hinny
A night to celebrate Joe Wilson, the Bard of Tyneside.
A night of top-class Geordie variety featuring music and comedy, compered by Lindisfarne member, and Sunday for Sammy star, Billy Mitchell. Rest of line up to be announced in due course. A fitting celebration and tribute to our very own “Bard of Tyneside”, who was born in Stowell Street, Newcastle, 175 years ago (November 29, 1841) – just 20 yards from the Irish Centre.
Funny and thought-provoking, Joe was a prolific song writer, poet and performer who rose to fame via the then 2,000-seat Balmbra’s in Newcastle. He was also a massive favourite in Sunderland, where he regularly played the 4,000-seat Wear Music Hall, and lauded in Teesside, Darlington, throughout County Durham and Carlisle.
Scotland has Rabbie Burns, we have Joe Wilson!
