Tyneside Irish Festival 2018 – David Lyttle Trio (Jazz)

Jazz drummer and Derry’s Musician in Residence 2015, David Lyttle was the first Irish musician to be nominated for a MOBO award. He will be joined by Scottish National Jazz Orchestra pianist Steve Hamilton from Aberdeen and American bassist Michael Janisch.

One of Ireland’s most celebrated jazz musicians, MOBO Award and Urban Music Award nominated drummer/composer David Lyttle has performed in over 20 countries, including recent high-profile artist residencies in China and the US. Growing up in a prominent musical family in Co Armagh, David has gone on to collaborate with global icons of jazz and hip hop, from Joe Lovano and Jason Rebello to Talib Kweli and Soweto Kinch.
His 2015 album Faces was described by Rolling Stone magazine as ‘one of the best listening experiences you’re likely to have all year’
His new trio features jazz stars Steve Hamilton (piano) and Michael Janisch (bass).
