Everyone is really looking forward to the upcoming performance on March 6th, 7:30pm, of a brand-new play by Townsend Productions, Behold Ye Ramblers – an imaginative retelling by Neil Gore of the early campaigns to establish the right to roam in Edwardian England. We would love it if you were able to join us and experience this true story for yourself!

Behold Ye Ramblers describes the part played by the “Clarion” newspaper in founding the early rambling clubs. As usual with a Townsend Theatre show, the message is conveyed with humour, music, song and imaginative sets and lighting.

This is one of the very last small-scale touring companies surviving in Britain. They continue a tradition of agitprop theatre dating back to Joan  Littlewoods’ Theatre Union and beyond.

Their recent shows at the Irish Centre have drawn an enthusiastic response. They were last seen in 2023 with “Yes, Yes, UCS” and have twice brought their version of Robert Tresell’s “Ragged Trousered Philanthropist” here.
