50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday – zoom talk

This very timely talk will take place on zoom.
On the 50th anniversary of the events of 30th January, 1972, now known as ‘Bloody Sunday’, this paper examines the relationship between poetry and politics through an exploration of Thomas Kinsella’s 1972 poem Butcher’s Dozen, and considers the role of textual and visual evidence in the construction of meaning through the archives of the Widgery Tribunal and the Saville Enquiry.
Derval Tubridy is Professor of Literature and Visual Culture at Goldsmiths, University of London. Author of Samuel Beckett and the Language of Subjectivity (Cambridge University Press 2018), and Thomas Kinsella: The Peppercanister Poems (UCD Press, 2001), she has published widely on Modernism and Irish Studies.
